The Return of the History Walk Through

Stacey has been celebrating  diverse cultures by hosting Multicultural Night annually. Long before the infamous festive day was created, its origin, known as the Renaissance Fair, existed.

The Renaissance Fair ,unfortunately, disappeared because of block schedule. It took time away from history to extend time spent in math, causing teachers to scramble for extra time for this project. The Renaissance Fair, now renamed History Walk Through, returns after seven years.

Last Farmer’s Market

Attention all Stacey students, the garden club will be hosting their last Farmer’s Market of the year tomorrow, Friday, May 27, 2016. This small event will be held at the front office after school at 3:00 p.m.

Items available for purchase will cost only $10 or under. At most, plants will be sold for approximately $5 or $6. Other items include oranges, corn seeds, pumpkin seeds, limes, lemons, and grapefruit, which will only cost around a dollar.

Make sure to stop by and purchase any of these items before they run out!

Unmissable Movies #2-What Saves the Kids?

Cool Cat Saves the Kids is all about teaching kids lessons about bullying and such, but really it’s a horrible attempt to be relevant. This “movie” came out on February 1st, 2015. It even gained 3.8/10 stars, but before had a 7.0/10 for “it’s so bad, it’s good” rating.  It is a kid’s safety and bullying movie, but it is horribly different from our generation.

Music for the Sake of Music

On May 25, the band program hosted their second concert this year. The concert was a fundraiser to help the program.

The beginning band started off the night, the Guitar class following, and then Period 2. Period 5 ended the show with the well-known song, “Do Re Mi” from The Sound of Music.

New School Year, New Electives

During the 2016-2017 school year, there will be new electives to choose from at Stacey Middle School for the soon-to-be 7th and 8th graders.

To begin, the wheel will no longer be available for the incoming eighth graders, however, new sixth and seventh graders will still have the opportunity to choose it.

Elective choices for the 2016-2017 school year are as follows:

Advanced Art will continue to be taught by Mrs. Karsh in room H3. This elective is for all of the artists, this will help you work on different styles of art and show off your skills to the school.

Band will continue to be held in the band room (big shocker there) and Mr. Woodruff will still be the musical director. Band is a great idea for the students who are musicals talented

Broadcast Journalism will continue to be held in Ms. Walter’s room, B4, it is all about creating reports about what is going on at Stacey and important events around the world. This is one of the few classes that require an application

No More Park?

The park is one of the most popular places to go after school. For one reason, there is more room to wait for your parents and also be with friends.

Stacey’s administration recognizes that it can be much easier for parents to pick students up at the park due to heavy traffic. The problem is the park is not on school grounds, and it does not have the appropriate supervision to meet student safety needs after 3:00 pm. There is no teacher watching, and Stacey’s students can still get in trouble for actions that occur after school. Furthermore, the school can be liable for students until they get home.

WSD Track and Field Meet Results

On Wednesday, May 18, Stacey Middle School took part in the WSD Track and Field Meet. At this event, all students took part in the 1600 meter race, 100-meter race, 400-meter race, 200-meter race, 4×100 meter relay, long jump, and softball throw. Everyone tried their best, however only Stacey’s boys took home the trophy.

On May 27th,Anime Club is holding  Amine Day! Anime Day is a day for all students of Staconia to enjoy the culture of Japan and much more; this event is for everyone to enjoy at both lunches. There will be games and performers and so much more! You can also win candy at certain booths.

NHJS Graduation Medallion

Attention all 8th graders in NJHS! If you are purchasing a medallion for graduation, be sure to turn in your money to Mrs. Gates or Mrs. Doyle by May 27th.

Those who are eligible for this medallion must have been in NJHS for two trimesters, one of them being the third trimester. The medal costs $19.00 and may be

Purchasing the medallion is not required; students can borrow a medallion for the ceremony as long as they are returned immediately after.

8th Grade Astronomy Dodecahedrons

Students from Mrs. Cleckler’s and Mrs. Ibbetson’s science class recently completed one of their last projects of the year, a dodecahedron! A dodecahedron is a three-dimensional polyhedron with twelve flat faces, and eight graders were required to fill up each side with researched information on space.
