A profile of our school’s most popular student: Turtlehead

Turtlehead is a popular student on campus. He is well known and constantly receives compliments from everyone. It is an obvious fact that many students are jealous of his perfect features. Although Turtlehead is popular and well-liked, some do not know his story.

Turtlehead lives in Ms. Walters class in B3. But occasionally, he is brought home on breaks longer than four days. Otherwise, he stays in his other home at school.

Free food, gift cards, and “controlled” chaos. What’s not to love?

Wednesday, March 15, Leadership passed out Bingo cards, set up tables in the cafeteria, and prepared for the mobs.

Competitors played several rounds of Bingo, including Blackout and Letter X. Not to mention, there were dozens of kids enjoying conversation and company.

“Bingo was the only school event where everybody was actually focused,” remarked seventh grader, Kelsey Tang. “The reactions were funny, too.”

The winners got to take their pick of several prizes, including gift cards for Target and Starbucks, candy, chips, and sunglasses.

Once all six rounds were finished, extra food and prizes were sold for a quarter each. Mr. Yohn was a bit dismayed that, even when they were free, nobody wanted the sunglasses.

Under My Umbrella-Ella-Ella

Mrs. Doyle’s math 7A classes have their first project of the trimester this week. The project is on the surface areas of pyramids and exploring the process of creating umbrellas. It will be due March 30 and will be a week’s worth of homework points, around 40-50.

This project is a collaborative project with 2-4 people per group, although, they will have the ability to discuss with the whole class. A physical model will be made by using the provided scale using construction paper, scissors, and glue. The project will be turned into Mrs. Doyle through Google Classroom.

Students will need to know how to find surface areas, how umbrellas are made, and how the fabric is cut. They are expected to know how to problem solve with real-world applications, and how to collaborate in person and digitally.

Introvert vs. Extrovert – Poll

Some people are thoughtful and shy and don’t really enjoy being around a lot of people. On the other hand, there are those who are more socially active and enjoy other people’s company. The people who don’t like all the limelight are called introverts. Those that do are the extroverts.

Nick Whittington, a seventh-grader here at Stacey said, “Extroverts are savages!”

According to the constellation theory of zodiac, the introverts of the twelve are Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces. The Extrovert signs are Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, and Aquarius.

Dear Sad Birthday Sasha,

I’m going to start off by saying, “Happy Belated Birthday!” I hope that helped a bit. I understand why you are so sad. Anyone would be sad if the people that they love and care about forgot their birthday. It’s natural to forget someone’s birthday once in a while. I bet even you can’t remember every single one of your family members’ birthdays. The truth is I wouldn’t be able to either. Regardless if your birthday is remembered or forgotten, you need to keep in mind that you are still a special person. You still are important. Know that just because they forgot your birthday doesn’t mean that they don’t love you. Maybe next year, throw out some reminders just in case.

Some students at Stacey might not have the greatest grades, some might even be on the verge of not passing 8th grade. If you are one of those students or just want to improve your grades, then here are ten easy steps on how to do it.

Step number one: Believe in yourself! For you to succeed, you need to make sure you believe in yourself. You need to recognize your abilities and talents so you can succeed!  

The Aftermath of the Field Trip of Dreams

Advanced Art students had a great time observing the amazing art projects created by various high school students and talented artists at the AMOCA museum, as well as the Millard Sheets Art Center in the Pomona Fairplex on March 14. 

In the morning, all Advanced Art students met in front of the school so that they would be able to board the bus. The students then made their way to the AMOCA museum where they were escorted around the museum by a guide to observing the beautiful artwork created by many amazing artists.

Making Health Care Great Again!

Some call it a nightmare. Others call it a blessing. But what is TrumpCare?

Well, the first thing to know is that it’s not really called TrumpCare. In fact, the president himself said he prefers to call it the American Health Care Act. He doesn’t feel something so urgent should have his name in its title. Many criticize this decision due to his previously established Trump Tower, Trump International Hotel, Trump Park Avenue, etc.

The American Health Care Act has been around for quite a while, but it was formerly referred to as Obamacare. Yes, ladies and gents, that’s right. Trump’s new plan is just a revised version of ObamaCare.

The Republican Healthcare Bill

Before Donald Trump was president and was on his campaign trails, he talked about his plans and what he would do when he became president. Healthcare was something he wanted to fix. On March 7, Republicans introduced their bill to repeal Obamacare, that aims to maintain coverage for people with pre-existing conditions and allows children to stay on their parents’ healthcare plan until the age of twenty-six.

The plan would offer individuals refundable tax credits to purchase health insurance and states will receive a set of money from the federal government. Experts warned that this could result in millions losing access to insurance they received under the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).

House Speaker Paul Ryan said Obamacare is “rapidly collapsing” and it is “time to turn the page.”

Cherry Blossom Festival!

Huntington Beach held their fourth annual Cherry Blossom Festival which celebrates 35 years of amity with Anjo, Japan. It was held Sunday on March 19, 2017, from 11 AM to 5 PM, at Huntington Beach Central Park with free admissions. It was a family-friendly event that had several events.

There was a large variety of fun to choose at the festival. There was Japanese music, dance, martial arts, exhibits, games, crafts, and much food. The exotic food included Japanese foods such as takoyaki, seafood, pancakes, and desserts, which could easily explain the huge lines. The food was popular creating long lines that could easily have one waiting for more than ten to even twenty minutes.
