Galaxy’s Edge Reservations

Gavin Mercado

Information on how to make reservations for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge broke this morning at 8 a.m. If you would like to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge from May 31st to June 24th follow along.

Reservations will become available for booking throughout all of those dates to any guests that have a valid theme park admission on the Disneyland website starting at 10:00am. If you would like to get the time you want, it is recommended to book them right when they open.

This reservation system is designed to limit the number of guests in the park to ensure that the crowds will not be overwhelming in Galaxy’s Edge.

At the Galaxy Edge opening day, you can ride the Millenium Falcon, shop at a Trader’s Market in the center of town, and even dine with other Star Wars locals at Oga’s Cantina.

Adults over the age of 18 must show a valid US ID when showing up for their reservation.

Good luck to everyone getting a reservation! We hope you got the time you wanted!

The Phantom of the Opera

Avalyn Walton

The most popular musical of all time, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s magical creation, “The Phantom of the Opera” came to Huntington Beach. Academy of Performing Arts’ (or APA) Musical Theatre Department who performed the show throughout the month of March.

There were six shows performed in total, on March 15-17, and March 22- 24. It was performed in Huntington Beach High School’s District Auditorium and Bell Tower.

Not only did “The Phantom of the Opera,” practically fill every seat, every night, but one of the people filling those seats was truly extraordinary. Believe it or not, the famous Michael Crawford, the original “Phantom” himself, went to see the incredible show. Continue reading “The Phantom of the Opera”

The Aftermath of the Winds

When the time comes, the same every year, the Santa Ana winds blow in and bust up a firestorm. This year that has been exactly what they did with what is known as the Woolsey fire in LA county.

The Woolsey fire was quoted as “the worst wildfire in its modern history” by lacounty.gov mainly due to the fact that it killed three people and has burned over 96,949 acres. The dense smoke it produced is known to be the dirtiest air in the world. The fire destroyed many homes and building its path.

Luckily, for all of the people that were evacuated, the Woolsey fire was, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, 100 percent contained on Wednesday, Nov. 15, and since then, loads of families have been able to go back to their homes.

It’s hard to imagine that some silly little winds could cause so much damage, but after this fire, and several more that happened this year, people will be taking the Santa Ana winds a little more seriously next year after seeing all of this horrible damage.

To get the show started, like always the SOCOM Para Commandos came swooping down and over the crowd, just to get everyone’s attention gathered. The SOCOM Para-Commandos are the only joint service parachute demonstration team in the U.S. military and only a few heavily trained people are chosen for it after loads of training. Who Turns Back Their Clock?

Whether people think Daylight savings is a huge inconvenience, the best thing in the world, or just another cause for sleep deprivation, most people around the world can agree that daylight savings is something that just has to happen and always does. Or so you might think.

Daylight Savings is the practice of setting the clock forward 1 hour at exactly 2 am. And as previously mentioned, the reality for most is that this happens on March 11.

However, this “reality” is only true for some. In the UK, for example, people observe daylight savings time on March 25, not the 11th. While this may seem odd to those who change the time on March 11, to many, it is completely normal. They also revert back to normal on October 28, not November 4. Girl Scout Galore

It’s that time of the year again when the Girl Scouts are out and about with lots of cookies to sell.

Being a Girl Scout can seem like an easy thing. All Girl Scouts have to do is sell cookies, but it is not actually that easy. People can be mean, even to fourth grade Girl Scouts just trying to sell some cookies.

Mia, a fourth grader in local Troop 3318 had a very discouraging experience while selling cookies with her mom. Mia walked up to a house and knocked on the door. A man opened the door, took one look at her, and slammed the door in her face. After he rudely slammed the door he yelled, “I don’t want your Girl Scout cookies,” aggressively.

Other than that, most Girl Scouts in Troop 3318 have had smooth and successful time selling their cookies. One Girl Scout Emily Fracassa has already sold $240 worth of cookies in only one week. Another Girl Scout Hannah has sold $400 worth of cookies. One box is five dollars.

All in all, there is no shortage of Girl Scout cookies being sold, and if you have a desire to buy a box or two then you should jump on the opportunity while it lasts.

The Super Bowl is a big event for football lovers all over the US. This year the top teams are the Philadelphia Eagles and The New England Patriots. Let’s get to know these two teams a little better.

Home Stadiums

Both of these teams have great home stadiums. The Eagles home stadium is Lincoln Financial Field, which is also home to the Temple Owls football team of Temple University.  It is a large stadium with a seating capacity of 69,176.

The Patriots home stadium is Gillette Stadium, which is also the home of MLS’s New England Revolution soccer team. In 2012, it also became the home stadium for the football program of  University of Massachusetts (UMass), while the universities stadium, Warren McGuirk Alumni Stadium, was undergoing renovations. Slightly smaller than Lincoln Financial Field, this stadium has a seating capacity of 65,878. Continue reading “In Depth: Eagles and Patriots”

C’ya Screamin! Hey Incredicoaster!

5, 4, 3, 2, 1, SCREAMMM! Oh, I’m supposed to write, sorry. Anyways, on January 8th, California Screamin had it´s very last screamers scream for one final time. Wow, that was a tongue twister. It was a sad day for many.

The reason why this attraction closed is because of the previously mentioned Incredicoaster that will be opening in Summer 2018. Very soon.

Recently, Disney released a wooden model of the inside of the tunnels (shown above), and I´ve gotta say, this is going to be so much better than California Screamin. Nobody really ever liked the boardwalk theme anyway. Continue reading “C’ya Screamin! Hey Incredicoaster!”

Coyotes are Stronger Than Ever in Huntington Beach, and This Strength is Becoming More and More Evident.

Those who live in the Huntington Beach know that we live in an amazing area. Beautiful weather, a nice atmosphere, and only a five-minute drive to the beach. The people of Huntington Beach are truly lucky to live where they live.

However, no place in the world is entirely perfect. There are problems in Huntington Beach as there are anywhere else in the universe. One of these problems is getting out of hand. As coyotes grow in population and grow in comfortability, this problem makes itself more well known.

As previously mentioned, the coyotes in Huntington Beach are well known at this point and are beginning to seem regular. Let it be known that simply because you become used to a problem, doesn’t mean it no longer is one.
