Stacey’s First Soccer Game of the Year

Both of Stacey’s soccer teams played the Johnson Wildcats on April 10th and ended up beating Johnson. We could not be more thrilled.

The girls’ soccer team smashed the Wildcats with an ending score of 6 to 0. Carolena Provenzino a 7th grader on the girls’ soccer team says, “I think that the team played really well, and I helped with two great assists. Overall, it was a great experience.”

On the other hand, the boys’ soccer team beat Johnson with a narrower final score of 2 to 1. 7th grade Caiden Rodriguez says, “It was fun, and when Tanner Bartling scored the final goal to get them a win he was ecstatic.”

The next game will be at Warner on April 30th. Let’s hope our Stacey soccer team can pull out another win, and also holding the title of undefeated.

 

 

 

Why Teachers Should be Paid More

In your class, there’s always this one kid who’s never prepared. They often borrow the teacher’s supplies or their classmate’s. Do you know the trouble that teachers have to endure to get their supplies? They often pay with their own money for supplies like paper, pencils, erasers, markers, etc.

In a video from What Would You Do, there is an actor playing the role of a teacher. She went to the store and bought some supplies for her “class.” The cashier went with the show’s plan and told her that her card has been declined. The teacher decided to return the milk she had in her cart. The people behind her felt distressed and helped her pay for her groceries. The host of the show, John Quiñones, asked why they decided to help her. They each had a different answer but all felt terrible for the teacher. (Link of the video.)

This video made me feel so obliged to my teachers. I don’t really borrow their supplies much, but I thought about the kids that do. Research shows that 94% of teachers buy their own supplies. That’s a lot of money wasted.

Mr. Yohn Conspiracy Theories: Part II

We all know Mr. Yohn as a very extra teacher. Although many conspiracy theories on Mr. Yohn have already surfaced, there are still many mysterious and intriguing things about this Social Studies teacher that we have yet to uncover. Let’s get into this.

Is Mr. Yohn Shaggy From Scooby-Doo?:

Now, this theory isn’t exactly original. It was created by Jenna Martinez; an eighth grader who reads the Cougar Chronicle. *Thank you Jenna.* Her theory is that Mr. Yohn is Shaggy from Scooby Doo. Where’s the evidence for this?

Well, Mr. Yohn was once caught wearing a baggy green shirt and brown cargo pants just like Shaggy from Scooby Doo. He also wears other clothing items that people could compare to Shaggy. We, however, have yet to confirm that he has a dog (which would probably be named Scooby).

Why Girl Scout Leaders Are Absolutely Ignorant

¨Would you like to buy a box of cookies?¨ asks millions of American Girl Scouts every day during cookie season. However, although seemingly innocent, Girl Scouts seem to have a hypocritical side.

Don´t get me wrong, I´m not saying that Girl Scouts are negative or anything. However, there are a few very exclusive things about Girl Scouts that makes it hard to wrap my head around.

That’s right. I´m talking about gender; the word that has quite possibly cut America in half. Girl Scouts, as said in the name, is a program for girls in which they participate in activities like camping, fundraising, and of course, cookie selling.

Ms. Walters Conspiracy Theories

Now, Ms. Walters is a favorite among the many Language Arts teachers here, as well as Journalism. However, there is something very peculiar about her that she isn’t quite telling us. The Journalism Investigative Team have come back again and found so many strange things that not even the world could explain. Now sit back, relax and eat a snack (that is healthy).

Is Ms. Walters Secretly a Horse?

Ms. Walters, if you are reading this, we don’t mean this in a mean way. Ms. Walters once mentioned that she was a veterinarian nurse before becoming a teacher. She also has several horse pictures inside her classroom. Everyone who has heard her read The Outsiders knows that she has a nice accent. We asked and she has clarified that she has a horse. While that may explain where that horsey smell comes, has anyone considered that she might actually BE a horse herself?

Now, this may sound strange, but Ms. Walters could very well be a centaur which is half horse half human. However, instead of being half and half, she might be able to control it so that she could shapeshift back and forth from a horse and a human. It all makes sense now, doesn´t it?

Mr. Woodruff Conspiracy Theories

Now, we all know Mr. Woodruff as a fun, enthusiastic band teacher who plays music for the sake of music. However, is there more to him than being just a simple band teacher? What the Journalism Investigative Team has uncovered is simply shocking.

Does Mr. Woodruff Control Gravity?:

Mr. Woodruff has made plenty of jokes in the past about nothing other than gravity. Whenever he drops something or something falls, he always tends to blame gravity. However, is this more than just some frivolous joke?

When in Mr. Woodruff´s band classes, many students noticed than random items just randomly fall, even when they are perfectly balanced on top of a table. Mr. Woodruff may be controlling gravity to specifically make these jokes. Is it all coming together now? We thought so.

Is 16 an appropriate age to start driving?

In California, 16-year-olds have higher crash rates than drivers of any other age. Is this epidemic really due to age though?

At the age of sixteen teens can receive their intermediate license, giving them some power behind the wheel. However, many argue that 16 is too young of an age to drive. On the other hand, some claim age doesn’t matter when it comes to driving, maturity does.

Arguing against driving at this age, many believe there is a major lack of experience. Some teens don’t take much time to practice before rushing into the test for a permit. They haven’t had enough time to get comfortable driving on the road.

Does Ms. Phan Teach/Attend Hogwarts?:

Anyone who has ever been in Ms. Phan’s classroom knows that she is a full-blown Harry Potter fan. She collected all a fan could want. Papers, POPS, and even her own cat! But could she just store this all in her classroom because her house in the wizarding world is too full? Our theory is that Ms. Phan also teaches the history of magic to students while they are away from whatever school they go to.

STUDY SKILLS? Are You Kidding Me?!?

School, school, school. We all have to endure that obstacle in life. Many students are fascinated by the topic and love their schools. However, some would consider eating a spoonful of salt rather than going to school.

Of course, school is all about language arts, math, social studies, science, and whatever other academic classes there are, there’s one more period of each student’s choice that everyone loves. That’s right, your elective!

There are so many electives at Stacey, from Broadcast Journalism to Marine Biology. However, there’s one more thing that the district throws in your face. The numbers on your report card, otherwise known as GPA. If the district doesn´t like your GPA, they get to take away a fundamental right, your chosen elective, that ever Stacey student should have.
